At Grace Studio of Motion and Dance we want each child to excel in their chosen style of movement. The following rules and expectations are meant for the benefit of each student. Students are expected to be in proper dance attire when arriving for class. There are changing areas available for student convenience. *If student is not in proper dance attire they will be excused from class. If you forget an article of clothing please see the front desk. We have extras for loan.
Acceptable attire is as follows: Ballet: Tights and Leotard (dance shorts and ballet skirts are optional) Pink or tan tights and black leotard are traditional and preferred. Footwear: Ballet shoes. Jazz: Tights and leotard - dance shorts or pants may be worn. Footwear: Jazz shoes. Hip-Hop: Movable clothing can be looser than other styles. Footwear: Hip hop shoes. Modern or Lyrical: Tights and leotard - dance pants or shorts may be worn over top. Footwear: barefoot or foot paws. Tap: Comfortable clothing. Footwear: tap shoes. Tiny Tot: Tights and leotard. Footwear: Barefoot or ballet shoes.
Absolutely no jeans, skirts (without shorts underneath), gum or jewelry. Stud earrings are acceptable.
Hair must be pulled back into a ponytail, bun or some other fashion to keep it out of student's face. *Please make sure hair is secured and can stay up throughout the entire class.
Warm ups are allowed in cold weather, however it is very important that the instructor see the position of students body to ensure correct technique and to avoid injury. *Warmups include: Legwarmers, knit dance pants, and wrap sweaters. No baggy sweats please!
No food or drink (with the exception of water) allowed in dance space.
For Parents: Please have a discussion with your child about listening and being respectful to his/her instructor and fellow students. Please have your child leave all toys in waiting area as they can be a distraction during class. Please encourage your child to use the restroom before class. Please make sure your child has the proper attire and footwear on before entering class. *It is the instructors job to instruct...not do hair and put on shoes. This eats into precious class time that you are paying for. Disciplinary rules: If a child is being disruptive to the class (i.e. not listening or disrespecting instructor) they will be given one warning. On the second offense the child will be taken to his/her parent/guardian for further discipline. The child may return to class after being excused once. If the problem continues the child will be excused for the remainder of the class time.
STUDIO POLICIES General Policies
Please be prompt in dropping off and picking up your student.
For their safety, all students must be escorted into the studio before lessons and wait inside the studio to be picked up after lessons. *Teacher will escort younger dancers downstairs to waiting area after class.
No gum chewing in the studio at any time
No food or drink allowed in studio (water okay)
Parents are responsible for monitoring all siblings not in classes
GSMD and its staff are not liable for any damage to or losses of personal property or valuables.
Any choreography learned by a student is the sole property of GSMD and may not be copied or used for any activity outside the Studio’s scope. Permission must be granted by the studio director for any student to use studio chorography at any venue where the member is not with the studio or acting on behalf of the studio.
No person(s) allowed in the dance space without a GSMD instructor or staff member present.
Students are expected to have a positive attitude while in class and encourage other classmates. Gossip and rudeness will not be tolerated.
Registration and Payment Policies
All parents must sign the liability waiver on your online studio account.
All students must have an online account with a credit card on file.
All class placements are solely at the discretion of the studio director and/or instructor.
Studio tuition payments are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Tuition payments are due on the first Monday of each month.
Auto pay tuition will be processed on the first Monday of each month.
If this falls on a holiday it will be processed the following day.
Students will not be considered withdrawn from the studio or any specific class until the office is notified in writing before the scheduled tuition due date.
Students will remain enrolled for the spring semester unless the office is notified.
After the 10thof the month a late fee will be incurred on any unpaid amounts.
$10 for every week late past the 10th.
Attendance
Students should strive for perfect attendance all semester
When a student misses class it has a negative effect on all the students- not only the one who missed.
If a student misses an excessive amount of class before a performance he/she may be removed from the show at the instructor and/or studio director’s decision.
No refunds will be give for missed classes.
Dress Code
Ballet:Tights, Leotard, Ballet shoes (shorts and ballet skirts are optional)
Jazz: Tights and leotard, shorts are optional. Footwear: Black Jazz shoes.
Hip Hop: Leotard with shorts or sweats. T-shirt optional. Footwear: Hip Hop Sneakers
Modern: Tights and leotard. Fitted pants and shorts are optional. Footwear: barefoot or foot paws

***Any student not in proper dance attire will not be allowed to participate in class. They will be asked to observe. ***Any student who is late to class and missed the warm up will be asked to observe. This is for safety reasons.
Recital Policies
All students are invited to perform in the annual recital. (tiny tot excluded)
Parents are responsible for purchasing necessary costumes from GSMD by the due date.
Costume payments are non-refundable and non-transferable
Parents are responsible for purchasing tickets to GSDM performances in advance. There is no promise tickets won’t sell out.
Students must be enrolled by October to participate in December Show.
Students must be enrolled by February to participate in May Show
New student’s may be invited to perform at the instructor’s discretion.
Students are required to remain backstage with instructors for the length of the full show- NO PARENTS are permitted backstage
NO student will be released during a show – NO EXCEPTIONS.
Locker Policies
Students who attend class two or more times a week may use a locker.
Lockers must be kept clean and tidy.
Do not leave opened food or drinks in lockers!
Do not put stickers on lockers without direct permission from the director.
